Nicolas Christakis, born in Athens in 1958, is a professor of social psychology and Director of the Communication & Media Psychology Lab at the Department of Communication and Media Studies of the University of Athens. He studied psychology at the University of Besanon and took his PhD from Paris X - Nanterre University. The title of his doctoral dissertation is: Pop-music: lieu d'identité et moyen d'expression collective.

His research interests concern issues of identity, social thinking and communication, close interpersonal relationships and rituals. He has published articles in Greek and foreign journals and has translated and edited many scientific (and literary) texts.
