Athena Marouda-Hatzouli, Assistant Professor of psychology
Athena Marouda-Hatzouli is an Assistant Professor of Psychology and she recently retired from the Department of Communication and Media Studies at the University of Athens. After completing her basic studies in Psychology, she did postgraduate studies in Social Psychology at the London School of Economics of the University of London, where she also completed her doctoral dissertation (Ph.D.). She is psychodynamic psychotherapist and group analyst and member of the Greek Society of Analytical Group and Family Psychotherapy. In 2001 he founded the Psychosocial Development Institute (IPSA) in Larissa, where she is Scientific Coordinator. Her research and writing interests are centered on human relationships.
Patricia Gerakopoulou
Dr Patricia Gerakopoulou is a collaborator of the Department of Communication and Media Studies of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens since 2010 teaching post graduate students. As a member of the Hellenic Open University (EAP) she also teaches post graduate students at the Department of Education. She works as an external collaborator for the National Center of Social Research (EKKE) and the Laboratory for Psychological Applications & Communication Planning of the Department of Communication and Media Studies. Since 2010 she has been a qualitative research consultant developing/drafting proposals and implementing EU funded projects for the Medical School of the NKUA (Department of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Medical Statistics), the National and Technical University of Athens (NTUA, School of Civil Engineering), as well as for various private research centers. She is the author of a book based on her PhD thesis, published in 2009, titled “Superman’s Children: a life story approach of the super hero comics funs”. She is also the author and co-author of various publications in the field of social psychology, cultural studies and qualitative research methods including chapters in collective volumes published in Greece and in the UK, and papers in peer reviewed journals.
Tsampika Karakiza-Papatharrenou
Tsampika Karakiza-Papatharrenou is a teacher in the field of computer science and is seconded to the Department of EMME, NUEPA (2022-2023). In 2005 she received her PhD in Communication from the Department of Communication and Media of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). Her doctoral thesis was entitled: "The transformation of the pedagogical relationship in the networked classroom: A qualitative investigation of the relationship between students and teachers in the High School". She has received a Master's degree from the Master's Program "Models of design and development of educational units" from the Department of Early Childhood Education and Educational Design, University of the Aegean with a thesis on the self-evaluation of educational units. She has also received a Master's degree from the Master's Degree Programme in Communication from the Department of Communication, NKUA, with a thesis on non-verbal communication in the classroom. She received the Diploma in Electrical Engineering in 1984 from the National Technical University of Athens.
For many years she has served as head of scientific and pedagogical guidance of secondary education in South Aegean and as a school counsellor for information technology in secondary education in South Aegean. She has also been a lecturer at the Pedagogical Department of the University of the Aegean as well as at the Primary Education Teaching School of the Pedagogical Department of Primary Education of the University of the Aegean and the Pedagogical School of SELETE (now ASPAITE), while she has been an adult educator at the Vocational Education and Training Organization.
She has published, alone or with others, articles on her research interests in books and journals. She is the author of the book 'Looking at the screen, touching the keys: Transformations of the pedagogical relationship in the networked environment" (Papazisis Publishing, 2010).
Evdokia Dali
Evdokia Dali is a PhD candidate at the Department of Communication and Media Studies. Her dissertation examines how experiences of relational transgressions are presented and shared in online support groups and how group processes of support are constructed. She works as a military psychologist in the Hellenic Air Force and her master degrees are on the field of Clinical Psychology and Sport & Exercise Psychology. Her research interests focus on studying how transitional and disruptive events (personal, socio-economic) affect individual’s psychic life and how new technologies mediate in these processes.
Katerina Spetsiotou
Katerina Spetsiotou is a certified psychotherapist (European Certificate of Psychotherapy) and family therapist (European Family Therapy Association). She has obtained a PhD in Psychology of Communication and a bachelor in Communication and Mass Media (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens). She works as a psychotherapist in private practice in Palaio Faliro since 2011.
Vasiliki Nika
Head of the Observatory for Education and Media Education and research associate of the Laboratory of Psychological Applications and Communication Planning of the Department of Communication and Media Studies of the University of Athens. She is a primary school teacher and a Doctor in Media Education and Education. She writes in the magazine "Window in Child's Education", where she has a permanent column on Literacy in the media. She works in public education and also writes and translates books for children and teachers. Her research interests concern the field of education and the media and information.
